Ready to Party!

The boys and I have been so busy all morning long preparing for our party tonight.  We are staying home this new year, and it will just be us 4.  But we are still going to make the best of it.

This morning we blew up a few balloons.  We discussed the new year (well, as much as you can with 2 toddlers) and taught Caleb how to shout "Happy New Year!"

Then, we made some noise makers.  Caleb picked out a few of his favorite colors and drew pictures all over the back of two paper plates.  I wrote "2011" on them, too.

I put tape around the edges to keep them together and showed Caleb how to put macaroni noodles inside the pocket.

Then I taped it up the rest of the way and added some streamers.  It was difficult to get a good picture after that because both boys were running around here shaking their new toys.  But I managed to snap a few.

Tonight I am making chili, bean dip, a veggie tray, and a cracker/cheese tray.  We rented Toy Story 3 for all of us to watch together as a family.  I'm really excited about the night ahead.

Happy New Year!

Pizza pizza!

Steve has been on vacation all this week and it has been WONDERFUL!  Not only is it his vacation, but I feel like I'm on vacation too.  It is so much easier during the day with two of us around, and I'm not so lonely.

Yesterday I found a coupon for Little Ceasers:  Buy one pizza, get one free.  They have their large pizzas for $5, so we got 2 pizzas for $2.50 each.  YUM!  We haven't had take out pizza in a long, long time.

Kaysen found the ho-ho-ho hat.  That's what Caleb calls it anyway.  He started squeeling and running around as soon as we put it on him.  So here's my little Kaysen, scampering around the house and hiding from the camera.  It took me quite a few pictures before I got one with his face in it.

Cute, huh?  I love the first photo.  It could be a Christmas card!

Christmas Traditions

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is driving around looking for Christmas lights.  Tonight we all put on our PJs and slippers, grabbed some blankets and hot chocolate, and drove around town looking at all the lights.  (Caleb and Kaysen tried the hot chocolate.  They didn't like it.)  Both boys stayed awake the entire time.  Caleb started calling out all the Christmas lights that he saw as we drove past.  He was looking for two things:  Kitties (snowman) and Ho Ho Ho (santa).  Kaysen was so amazed at all the lights and kept saying "kissmas, kissmas".  We all had a really good time together.

My sick little one

Kaysen is sick.
You can tell this is not my happy baby.  We had a very easy day today, lots of cuddling and 2 naps.  Caleb was bored since his playmate was under the weather.  So I brought out 5 different 'stations' for him to play at to keep him busy.  Easel, table with puzzles, cars and blocks, animals and farm, and the tunnel.  Once Kaysen took his second nap I brought out rice and boats for him to play with too.
Overall it was a very simple day.  I just hope my poor baby starts to feel better soon.

The Mall

Today we went to the mall.  Caleb LOVES the mall.  This morning I told him that we were going, and he was so excited.  He waited all morning asking when we were going to go "bye mall".  As soon as he woke up from his nap the first word he said was "mall".

They have a new play area in the mall.  It's colorful, huge, and the boys love it.  They took so many good pictures, I can't pick just one or two.
